WOUND CARE

To qualify for wound care under Medicare's home health benefit, a person must be homebound and the wound must not be considered chronic in nature.  Often times a patient with a chronic wound is still in need of nursing care, but because their wound is classified as “chronic”, they are discharged from home health services and are referred to the wound care clinic or their primary physician for follow-up. This can pose a real problem if the client is not able to do the care themselves or if they do not have a family member to assist them between visits to the clinic. A trip to the clinic can also prove to be a monumental task.

If you are faced with this type of situation, Procare Nurse Consulting can help. Our nurse has cared for many wounds and can work with your physician and the wound care clinic to help you manage your wound at home. When it comes to wound care, having the same pair of eyes look at a wound on a regular basis is one of the best ways to monitor its progression.
